70% simping, 29% sport, 1% actual romance... will we see any major changes later?

Title.

Adjust the proportions the way you preffer, but i got surprised in how HUGE is the focus on the annoying way the MC is simping about the FMC, all the time he's not playing.

The "love"(?) triangle is ok, the badminton subplot is great, but the simping, ah it was exagerated IMHO.

Even if the ship never sails, will the MC be a bit more chill about her later?

Have you ever fallen in love? I guess being a "simp" (whatever you want to mean it), is the first steps toward the actual romance - whether in real life or in fiction. People don't just fall in love in first sight. It's like gardening, it takes time to cultivate and grow relationship.

Just be patient, you will see the plot and the payoff soon. Or you could read the manga if you want to continue more...

I think what he means is the MC is fumbling way too much when it comes to progressing his relationship with his senpai and it gets boring to watch after a couple of episodes when nothing changes between their status quo

Maybe you guys should be studying rather than focusing on why an anime isn't good. Get a life, weebs.

@talha13 I am way past studying I am practically at the top of the ladder at my job so yes I will partake in eluding why some anime do something or why some don't. It's my life so I do whatever I want it's not a 16 years old kid who will tell me what to do. Prove yourself first before giving lesson to others.

yeah i also feel that mc is annoying sometimes and it's coming from a manga reader, he fumbles too much and he is way too awkward around chinatsu and it gets tiring to watch after a couple of times

I don’t get why people complain about slow progress in romance anime. If MC was a gigachad ladykiller the way a few of the folk in chat seem to see themselves, it would be over in 2 episodes. After that it’s just hentai!
These types of anime rely on hesitant kids to create mild drama from misunderstandings and stretch the story, which makes the ending more rewarding. Don’t like it? Don’t watch it.

Taiki is a teenager, Chinatsu is older than him so ofc he's nervous and also he doesn't have any previous experience. Moreover, he's into badminton, dealt with a huge loss in the last match which he was looking forward to. Obviously a teenager wouldn't be able to handle all this sh!t at once.

this is a 176 chapter romance that is focusing on different things😭 we only half way through season 1 you gotta give it time and let it progress like the manga.

Bruh, simping is actually romance progression, how do you expect both to be together then?

Actually Taiki is probably the only worth part of this Anime, everything else is lame incluiding the female love interest who's ugly af.

LOL i noticed that.

It seems that today, for many weebs, the creepy behavior that 5y ago everybody called "simping" or "mangina's" stuff, now is received as "oh just a boy in love" 💖

hahaha oh poor humanity

Well if you look at the fanbase for this series it is mostly filled with teenage boys simping hard for their CHINATSU-SENPAI, so putting in these moments resonate better with the audience. With this being in Shounen Jump as well, it explains why this is one of the most successful romance right now even with mid characters and a mid plot.

Yeah Ik that I was just explaining what the dude’s problem with this show could have been in a plausible way as to why he made this thread in the first place as a lot of romance take forever to develop their characters and it gets tiring to watch after a certain time period as nothing changes this is also one of the main issues plaguing the romance/comedy genre and why shonen is more preferred than rom-coms even today.

In my best effort to not spoil anything for non-manga readers, the balance of focus between Romance and Sport is always in a constant sway. There are many set-pieces where the sports aspect of Blue Box is the sole focus as such is the same for any character/romantic building. It really is half-Romance and half-Sports, and its constant shift in focus creates something that's fun to read/watch that is also paced wonderfully. Unfortunately the anime is moving quite slowly, it may not be until roughly episode 16 where things start to pick up on all fronts

@Bluejazzlikethat Not really, man. Simping is weird. I get infatuation but he thinks of her as some perfect goddess or something. Also, I think his reasons for liking her weren't as deep as Hina's reason for liking him. She loves him but encourages him to do what he wants to do. MC is annoying.
